Monocrystalline modules are made of solar cells, each of which is made from a single silicon crystal wafer; polycrystalline modules on the other hand consist of cells that are made from multiple wafers of silicon crystal. While monocrystalline modules were tradtionally know to have slightly higher in efficiency in comparison to polycrystalline modules, they are also more expensive. In recent years, however, the differences between polycrystalline and monocrystalline cells are becoming less evident, if any.
